Fix Printer Error 49

Printer Error 49 usually appears when you are attempting to print a document using a HP printer and then a communication failure error occurs between the computer and the printer. However, there are other probable causes for this message with an error 49 code to appear. There is a chance that it is related to the file that is being printed, or it could be due to a firmware problem. You must determine the cause of the problem and then fix the error to be able to make use of your printer again. This tutorial will guide you how to resolve printer error 49 on HP printers.

HP printer error 49 is typically caused by invalid print commands, damaged or corrupted data, invalid operations or sometimes registry issues. Some problems that can be easily fixed are caused by poor quality of the parallel cables that connect the printer to the computer. To stop the error messages from appearing, you must make sure that all possible causes are ruled out.

The way to fix HP printer error 49 is to first calibrate the printer. You can calibrate your printer by performing all these steps:

  1. Clear the print job from memory by pressing the Cancel Job command.
  2. Restart the printer by turning it off and on again.
  3. Print another job and this time from a different program.
  4. If the job printing was successful, return to the first application and print another file.
  5. If the error message shows up only with a specific software program or print job, contact the software vendor to get assistance from them.
  6. If the error message persists even with a different software application and print job, take off all the cables that connect the printer to the PC or the network and then turn off the printer.
  7. Open the printer and remove the entire set of memory DIMMS or third party DIMMS, but, DO NOT remove the firmware DIMM inserted in slot J1.
  8. Also, remove all the EIO devices from the computer.
  9. Turn on the printer again.
  10. If the error message does not appear again, then one by one return each of the DIMMS and EIO devices and turn the printer on and off each time you install a device.
  11. If you have pinpointed a specific device, replace it.
  12. Reconnect all the cables to hook the printer back up again to the computer or network.
  13. If the error code 49 still persists, replace the DIMM firmware.
  14. Lastly, replace the formatter of the printer and then calibrate the printer again.

fter calibrating your HP printer, you have to make sure that your Windows registry is free from errors. Konica Minolta Magicolor 2530DL Troubleshooting

Konica Minolta released the Magicolor 2530 DL printer in the summer of 2006. This printer is designed for small offices or home offices, with a maximum output of 20 pages per minute in black and white and five pages per minute in color. The maximum resolution is 2400 dots per inch by 600 dots per inch. This printer is no longer available for sale new, but replacement cartridges can still be found. As with all printers, the Magicolor 2530 is prone to occasional issues, but Konica Minolta provides helpful troubleshooting tips.

Misfeeds
1) Make sure that all paper you are loading into the Magicolor printer matches the printer's specifications for acceptable media. Folded or bent paper can cause misfeeds and paper jams. If the paper is too moist (or has been stored in a humid area), it may stick together from the paper tray and cause the printer to jam.

2) Check under the printer. If the printer is off-balanced, the paper may not feed correctly. It is best to keep the printer on a flat surface.

3) Avoid overfilling the paper tray (which has a maximum capacity of 200 sheets). Also try not to load different sizes and types of paper at the same time. Printing on transparencies can cause misfeeds, especially if you ran the transparencies first, because this causes static to accumulate.

Clearing a Paper Jam
1) Remove any paper in the output tray. Pull the lever on the front edge of the printer's top, and then slide open the top cover. Pull on the laser drum cartridge gently to lift it out of the printer. Place the cartridge on a flat, dry surface and try to avoid putting it down in direct sunlight.

2) Push the two gray levers on either side of the printer as far back as possible. You should now be able to see any paper that is misfed. Pull gently on the paper to remove it. If no paper is stuck here, flip the latches back down, reinstall the cartridge and proceed to Step Three.

3) Pull out the paper tray as far as it will go, and then lift up and pull more to remove it completely. Reach into the back of the paper drawer and feel for loose paper. Pull gently on the paper to remove it from the system. Lift up on the front lid of the paper tray to remove it. Take all of the paper out of the tray, fan it, tap it on a flat surface to align it all, and then reinsert it. Reattach the lid and insert the paper tray back into the printer.

4) Pull the printer out from the wall to access the duplex cover. When printing double-sided copies, the paper is pulled back into this area and can sometimes jam. Pull on the duplex cover to open it. If paper is jammed here, you can see it clearly and remove it by pulling gently upward.

How Do MICR Printers Work?

Magnetic Ink Character Recognition, or popularly known as MICR, is a standardized printing and character recognition technology primarily used by the banking industry. The technology allows for the speedy processing of bank cheques and for other printing purposes that require some level of security. For most people, this technology seems obscure. Nevertheless, recent advancements in MICR printing are making it even more relevant for a more diverse set of functions.

The Need for MICR Technology

Why is there a need for MICR in the first place? To answer this we need to look at its predecessor, the barcode. Barcodes remain an industry standard for faster and secure processing of various items and documents. It is a very familiar mark since most goods sold at retail stores are tagged with barcodes. It is certainly more convenient and quicker to shop at an establishment that has point-of-sales systems that read off barcodes.

The same benefit applies for MICR technology. Documents can be processed faster and with a level of security and reliability that is more acceptable than if it were processed manually. The main difference between the two technologies is that MICR can be readily recognized by humans unlike barcodes.

Magnetic Ink Technology in a Nutshell

First developed in 1956, magnetic ink character recognition has grown more reliable over the years. The process starts with the special MICR toner or ink, which contains iron oxide. This allows the printing of the characters to be magnetized or polarized.

The next element of the process involves the standard fonts used for printing cheques. The most commonly used are known as E-13B and CMC-7. If you examine these fonts from right to left, you would see that each character is completely unique in form.

The printed cheques will then be scanned using a special magnetic reader. This device will be able to distinguish the different waveforms generated by the magnetized character shapes. Checking and sorting of cheques thus becomes a breeze.

The use of special software and dedicated printer ensures that the quality of printing is flawless, eliminating reading errors. However, there are already MICR toners for popular laser printer brands like HP and Lexmark. Toner cartridges that are MICR-compatible are understandably more expensive than regular toner cartridges for commercial and home-use laser printers; even though they beat the price of MICR dedicated equipment and supplies.

Lately however, magnetic ink cartridges for inkjet printers have become available in the market. If you find a need to use MICR ink and toner cartridges for your regular laser or inkjet printers, make sure that they are of high quality and from a reliable vendor. You don't want printer ink drops or streaks to appear on your documents or cheques.

Although still in its infancy, magnetized ink for consumer-grade printers are expected to open up multiple opportunities for the technology to flourish. Further development for this product line will surely open up the demand and drive prices down for MICR toner and ink cartridges in the foreseeable future.

Fix Left or Right Cartridge Incorrect in Lexmark Printer

Several months ago I had purchased my Mother-in-law a new Lexmark X9575 as an easy way to provide print, fax and copy functionality in one unit. She isn't the most technically proficient person in the world. So, I wanted to get her something that is easy to use and maintain. The Lexmark 9575 is what is considered a thermal inkjet. This machine produces black prints in up to 1200 x 1200 dpi and color prints up to 4800 x 2400 dpi. It prints 33 pages per minute in black and 28 pages per minute in color. So, this machine has top end specs for a relatively low cost. Surprisingly this unit comes standard with the #43XL color and #44XL black ink cartridge out of the box. XL is a designation that means High Yield. But, it never fails that after approximately 200 prints it came time to change out the printer ink.

Being the technician of the family I was called to show her how easy it is to swap out these printer cartridges. After all I had worked at CompUSA for almost four years. Those years had been spent in both sales and service. So, for all of those years I never had an issue with changing out a print cartridge. I mean how hard can it be? They make those things almost fool proof. Can you imagine my surprise when I pulled out the old black ink cartridge (#44XL), removed the plastic strip and inserted the new cartridge into the X9575 only to receive the "Left cartridge incorrect" message. Wow, what a time for an error message to appear, just as I was showing my mother-in-law how easy it is to swap out printer cartridges from the newest inkjet printers. Never-the-less I did the requisite research, followed the recommended means to troubleshoot the error and finally called tech support. The following are the correct steps to troubleshoot either the Left cartridge incorrect or Right cartridge incorrect error situations.

1) Disconnect the power from the printer.

2) Remove the black power brick/block from the rear of the machine. (It may be a little tough to pull it out the first time you remove it.

3) Open the top of the printer/multi-function unit.

4) Gently pull the ribbon in order to center the printer cartridge carrier.

5) Open either the left or right side and remove the cartridge. (Depends on which side the error is occurring on, black on the left, color on the right)

6) Verify that all of the plastic strip that covered the new contacts on the cartridge have in fact been removed.

7) Wipe both the cartridge and printer contacts with a dry, lint free cloth.

8) Wipe the bottom of the cartridge with a damp, lint free cloth in order to verify that the ink is flowing and looks correct.

9) Make sure there is no water remaining on the cartridge.

10) Re-insert the cartridge into the carrier and make sure that it is bottomed and inserted all the way to the rear of the carrier slot.

11) Re-insert the power brick/block.

12) Re-connect the printer power cable.

13) Power on the printer and the error should be resolved.

14) Run the print alignment and print or copy several pages to insure the problem has been resolved.

Brother Printer Error Codes

Have you ever encountered a printer error code while using your Brother multifunction printer? Chances are that you have. It is not that the Brother printer is an inferior machine; in fact, it is one of the best multifunction printers out there. But just like any machine, it can bog down. And when it does, a printer error code might pop up on your computer screen or on the LCD control panel of the printer.

What are the common printer error codes of Brother multifunction printers and how can we fix them? Here is a list of these error codes.

o Error Code S05. A printer error code like this happens when the transfer of data via the parallel port is not going smoothly. Just reset your printer to get it going again.

o Error Code E50. This printer error code flashes when the fuser unit of your Brother multifunction printer gets damaged. When this happens, it is a signal that you must replace your printer's fuser unit.

o Error Code E51. When the printer's laser beam, lid or mirrors are not placed in their appropriate positions, it results in this printer error code. Please check if ink cartridges and everything in your printer is where it should be before you start using it again.

o Black pages. Sometimes, the message "Black pages" can flash on the screen, or a black page is actually being printed out. In this case, you would need to take your printer to a service center and replace its jumper wires and diodes.

o Check paper path. When this message shows up, it means that your Brother printer has a dirty or misaligned eject roller. Clean it or straighten it up, whichever is necessary, and then try printing again.

o Poor quality of copy. When the output of your Brother multifunction printer, be it the printout or the fax, is smudgy, it could be because the scanning mirrors or the glass is dirty. Clean them up if they are. However, if these are clean, then the problem could be your printer's camera. You can try out unplugging your printer for a few hours, but if the problem persists, you may have to go to a service center to get your printer's camera replaced.

Steps to Fix Runtime Error 482

How To Fix Runtime Error 482

The Runtime 482 Error arises when the user attempts to utilise the “PrintForm” protocol. More specifically, when the user attempts to change a page level setting (such as Orientation) the Runtime Error 482 is shown due to either a damaged part of your system or a corrupt file causing the damage. This error is typically present on older computers using the operating systems Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, or 2000; and can arise at seemingly random times. Here’s how to fix this error:

What Causes Runtime Error 482

The error may show itself as:

Run-time error ’482′: Printer Error

or

Printer Error

These errors usually arise from the use of PrintForm on older Windows operating systems, however the timing of the error various from operating system. For example, in Windows 2000 and NT the error can occur even if the user succesfully completed one call to PrintForm. In older Windows, this error can occur even during the first call to PrintForm. To resolved this issue, please follow the steps below.

How To Fix Runtime Error 482

Step 1 – Do Not Use “PrintForm”

By not using PrintForm you are avoiding any possible conflict with the utility. Although this not a fix, it is a very effective workaround, which normally works every time. To stop using PrintForm, follow the steps below for Windows 2000 and NT:

Calling the EndDoc method after the call to PrintForm fixes the problem.
For older Windows Operating Systems:

Calling the EndDoc method before the call to PrintForm skirts the problem but any settings made to the Printer object are lost. This means that PrintForm uses the settings of the current default printer.
Use the Common Dialog control to change page properties instead of direct assignments to the properties of the Printer object.

The EndDoc method (For Windows 2000 and NT):

Using Win32 API (Application Programming Interface) enter this code:
Private Sub Form_Click()
Printer.Orientation = vbPRORPortrait
PrintForm
Printer.EndDoc
Printer.Orientation = vbPRORLandscape
PrintForm
End Sub
For older Windows Operating Systems use this EndDoc method:

Using Win32 API, type this code
Private Sub Form_Click()
Printer.Orientation = vbPRORPortrait
Printer.EndDoc
PrintForm
Printer.Orientation = vbPRORLandscape
Printer.EndDoc
PrintForm
End Sub

Running this will allow you to stop the error occurring and to run without this error. Alternatively, if that fails to work, try the follow step.

HP Printer Error Codes

Are you worried about the numbers that come out from your printer's display panel while you are using your HP printers? Well, these can be HP printer error codes. You don't have to worry about them as there are solutions to such errors. Want to know more about what these error codes are and see how they can be solved?

HP printer error codes to watch out for

Some of the most common printer error codes that can pop out your computer screens (or your printer's display panel) are due to paper problems. There are those that result from use of wrong HP supplies.

1. Error 10. This denotes "Supplies Memory Error". This error actually comes out depending on your printer model. This is caused by the printer having problems with the memory chip. The simplest way to solve this problem is to reset the printer settings by turning the printer off and on.

2. Error 11. This printer error code means "Paper Out". The problem with this is it appears even if you have loaded the paper on the tray. To solve this, you have to check the problem and see to it that the paper is loaded correctly. Sometimes, this can also be a result of HP ink or toner build-up on the sides of the paper tray so better check on that too.

3. Error 12. This is a code for "Open or No EP Cartridge." If this printer error code shows up on the screen, it means that the top cover is open. This can be a result of defective toner cartridges, cooling fans or PS5 sensors. You should then check where the defect is coming from and replace the parts when necessary.

4. Error 13. This code means "Paper Jam". The first thing you can do to solve this problem is to check on your paper. See to it that it matches what is specified for your printer model. Some HP printers may have problems when you load thick paper inside them. In view of this, you should check HP's paper guide.

5. Error 14. This can be an indicator of "No EP or Toner Cartridge." This is one of the HP printer error codes that may confuse you especially if you have installed your HP printer cartridges. Well, how can you solve this then? Simply pull out the cartridge and reinstall them again.

6. Error 16. This HP printer error code is short for "Toner Low". This might mean that you already have an empty printer cartridge. But at times this can also mean that the printer toner is not distributed evenly. When this is the case, simply shake the printer cartridge from back to front and side to side.

7. Error 21. Also known as HP printer error code for "Print Overrun", this problem can be solved by seeing to it that your printing job is not too complex.

There are still other HP printer error codes that may come out depending on the printer model you own. You can check on the manual that comes with your HP printers when these codes appear on the printer's display.

Fix HP Printer Error Code 20

HP Printer error code 20, as the name describes, is a problem with the HP printer on your system. The issue is typically caused if the printer is either not configured correctly, or your system tries to send an erroneous command to it. This error will typically show when you try and print a document / spreadsheet or another piece of data from your system, and will stop the print-out from proceeding. In order to fix this, it's advisable that you follow the steps outlined in this tutorial.

The HP error 20 will generally show in this format:

There are several reasons why this error may show, including having an outdated / erroneous printer driver, not installing the printer software you need on your PC correctly, or having registry errors on your system. The bottom line of the problem is basically that when you try and print out a document / file from your Printer, there are certain issues which prevent Windows from either recognizing or connecting with the printer on your system. To fix the issue, you need to repair the various problems which cause this to occur - which can be done in quite an easy way.

The first thing to do to ensure the error code 20 is does not show up again on your system is make your HP printer the "default" printer. It might be the case that your system will be unable to use the printer as it cannot identify which one to use. Making your HP printer your default printer will resolve this issue, and should help your system to correctly print out. After that, you should also look to reinstall the HP printer software on your computer. This will essentially remove the printer from your PC and then place it back there again - allowing your system to correct any potential issues it had the last time it was installed.

It's highly recommended that you also "clean out the registry" of your PC by using a registry cleaner program. These are software tools which will fix any errors that are inside the 'registry' of your system - which is a large database that Windows uses to store vital settings and information for your computer. It's often the case that many registry settings will either become damaged or corrupted - leading your PC to be unable to use the files that it needs to run. This often causes a variety of errors to show, and is one of the main reasons for the HP printer error code 20 showing. To fix this, it's advisable that you clean out the registry of your system with a registry cleaner tool.
